Horticulture Section Manager

A Horticulture Section Manager oversees the harvest and processing of produce. Their time is split between the office, the field, and the packing sheds.

In the mornings, they check on harvest teams and the quality of the produce in the fields. Then they organise orders and prepares labels for the day’s harvested produce, before organising the packing shed team, who they work closely with to ensure quality assurance and safe practice procedures are met. The section manager also liaises with business partners to ensure orders are on track and running smoothly.

Core Tasks:

  • Coordinating trucks for pick up and deliveries,
  • Assess quality of work and take corrective actions where applicable
  • Ensure that all specification for seeding and planting are satisfied.

  • Ensure that seed stock / levels / usage is managed as per company procedures.
  • Liaise with Grower/ Farm Operation Manager / Agronomist where required.
  • Ensure that all seeding equipment is maintain as per procedures.
  • Monitor germination to ensure seeds are of acceptable quality.
  • Ensure all records are maintained.
  • Ensure all crops are labelled correctly.
  • Work with harvest and packing shed teams.
  • Uphold and implement high health and safety standards.
